Very Rustic & more.........

With 2 days to go.........I thought I'd show you some Christmas trees I've made.

I know this tree is very rustic looking with its rusty barb wire branches, wrapped in twigs with a few little lights and rusty bells...........but it would have to be one of my favourites! I received it as a gift , in kit form last Christmas. The branches are tied off to the the main trunk with a thick twine.

The next 3 are all Trees from "Kaiser"

This one I covered in paper, painted the Christmas balls, star, Jingle bells and added a few pearls.

I spray paint this one white and hung some little felt ormaments that I made on it.

My count down to Christmas tree.

Just one more photo................. Here's my Christmas Angel. She was made from scraps I had hanging around!

Tis the season............TO BE JOLLY

"3 Birds on Parade" is my latest cartridge.........it has the cutest  images! My first creation with it is this Shaker card........It was so much fun to make, I love how it turned out.

I have some pictures below to show you how I made it.
In the past I have used foam tape but I found the beads, glitter or bling can stick to it in areas. (Maybe I was doing it wrong?)
The base for the shaker was a "used tape roll".........don't throw them out, they are the best. The only thing is  you are limited to that size. I just made my card bigger so it would fit. (My card is 51/2 in square.)

Wouldn't you know it..........All my tape rolls were new, so I asked my husband if he could find me something at work, check out what he bought me home , LOL. I don't think I'll run out for a while! I could go into productiion!!!!!!!!! (I've already had a request from my oldest daughter)

So here I am in his work shed cutting it to size. There was a few rough edges but I sanded them off.

Here it is all painted and ready for my little Christmas bird. Run a fine line of glue around the edge to stick the transparency, then decorate with the frame.

Measure across the circle, mine was 3 in. Then on my Gypsy I created this frame to fit with "Mini Monograms"

Add what ever you want to shake.........
I glue the bird to this white card which is embossed , then glued it to the circle .

One mistake I made was adding beads that were a little to big, they get stuck and don't shake........I couldn't pull the back off with out tearing it so I left it..........I'll know next time!

I hope this little picture tutorial has helped anyone who hasn't made a Shaker card before.

Have a Great week

A little Vintage....

When I saw this old picture of Santa I knew I had to put it on a card.  The wreath is cut from "Joys of the Season". I cut it twice raising the second layer with foam dots. Notice the little heart charm hanging........my daughter was throwing out some old jewellery, so I quickly had a look. I have this huge jar of junk jewellery............I often go through it looking for little things to add to projects I'm creating! The fabric covered button I found on one of my Op shop trips.

I'm entering this card in 2 challenges -

"Jitterbuggin" ...........Put a Santa on your card.

Surfing Santa.........

Here's a layout I did for Mandy at "Scappy-Go-Lucky"

Christmas in Australia is HOT............. I decided to do a layout showing how we spend Christmas , most of the time just trying to keep cool!" So...........Here's my Surfing Santa"
The photo of Jordyn and Tori was taken Christmas 2008.

The lights and tree are from "Create a Critter"

With my Gypsy I welded a circle to the paper doll to give him a fat stomach.

I know my Santa is dressed a little different, but I think he is kinda cute!

Our Tree

Lots and Lots of different colour baubles and lots of lights ............here's our tree!
We bought this tree 2 years ago, I wanted one that touched the roof............Its not far off it! So when we first bought it home we thought WOW its huge. Then the next year everyone thought it had shrunk and thought we should of gone bigger.
The first question Tori asked yesterday was "do you think the tree has shrunk this year?"
Its just that we had got use to the size! So, I can tell you after the time it took decorating it , its still pretty big!

First I started with the lights......650 of them . I plugged them in to see if I'd covered the tree evenly , to find none of them worked . I was not happy, they worked before I started, what is going on?....... It ended up being the transformer, why couldn't it stop working before I started? Well , I walked outside to our barbeque area and pinched 2 transformers from there. It will be in darkness but our tree looks good! LOL

This is it today

And Tonight

And look, this is me.......a bit distorted.

How is your decorating going?

I'm off to do the rest of the house..................
