Christmas creating

Hey Everyone.........Look what I have been making!
I could not buy what I needed.......soooooooo
 I started with an old curtain rod , a few tools from the shed! Round disks used for joints inside teddy bears, sticks from my backyard.........and my husband! Well, after a number of failed attempts using the hand saw and the cuts being a bit wonky, my husband came to the rescue....using a table saw!

 I glued the disks to the rod, some gesso, paint and sanding
Mod podge and glitter!
Ta da !

Lola and Anna.....loved their trees. { Anna is my lovely friend who keeps my stash full of those gorgeous doilies}
A great project to use up excess ribbon in you stash..........I'm off to make some more! I do have a collection of wooden spools that were my Grandmothers...I could not part with them. I enjoy having them on display in a jar.

Lori from "Choux Choux paper Art" has a fun Christmas /Winter challenge running.......I'm linking up!

Thank you so much for visiting
Happy Christmas creating

  1. Tracey or do you prefer Trace, Great idea and a nice gift, you must have a big stash of doilies, ribbons and crocheted items...you almost always have one of them incorporated into your project. I love these little trees and it looks like the recipients really enjoyed them too.

    I wonder if old wooden spools from thread would be heavy enough for this, probably not, but I save them for some reason, just don't know why. I used a table saw when I made some Barbie Doll furniture for my grand-daughter, I have them on my blog. I was not comfortable with a small saw, and when my son wasn't available to cut pieces I cut them with his big table saw.

  2. You are a GENIUS! (And I love Anna) And I'm sure Lola is very nice too :) ... but I have been searching for the right sized spools that won't tip over and that won't bleed me wallet and you just go and make some... yes... I would need to enlist my husband also... Why does my mind not work like this??? I'm trying ... my stupid left and right sides of my brain are just always fighting each other!!!! They must learn to get along... ok... I'm enlightened... onward. And by the way.. your trees are my favorite that I've seen!! And the glittery bases... sigh... awesome!
