Late for Christmas............

But, Perfect for Valentines Day!!

A couple years ago I made this tree. I cut all the hearts from wood with a jig saw. My husband helped me with the tree........ and a terracotta pot from the garden.

This is the before photo.

And now all Shabby!

Originally I hung the hearts with wire........I cut that off and replaced it with twine.

Looking pretty for Valentines day!

I sanded the hearts back to show some of the colour underneath.

I love the  blog "LESSology" . It has been a while since I entered any of the challenges. (Too many other commitments) One of my all time favourite things to do is recycle and alter items.......and I just love Hearts!  So I made an extra effort to finish painting my tree , which I had started working on a few days before Christmas.
"You are my Sweetheart" is the challenge , add a heart and a recycled item to your creation. The only thing new is the twine.

Its the weekend tomorrow.......woo hoo
Enjoy

Post # 2 for today............LESSology

I am so excited to be 'LESSology's' guest designer for this month.
I love taking part in the monthly challenges.........the idea of  altering things and giving them a new life is so much fun:)

Here is what I came up with.

My idea for this challenge was to create a picture frame for my wall..........I arranged my photos in a  "Block" pattern. I thought of each photo block (canvas) like a quilt block, decorating each one differently!
I used my sewing machine to stitch around the edges of all the pattern paper, inking and adding some pretty lace and charms, just like you can do if you were creating with material to form a quilt block.

I used an old Cork Board, painted the frame white and these are some of the recycle items. I used double sided tape to adhere paper to the cork.

Each square block is a mini canvas. This doily is from a table cloth I bought at a thrift store....its slowly getting smaller.

This is my Grandmother on her wedding day........the butterfly is from an old necklace.

This little clip was given to her when she was baptised...... Her name is engraved on it.

Some pretty recycled lace.

An old tea stained doily, some charms from an old necklace. I used pearl pins to hold them in place on the cork board.

My Grandmother lived until she was 102.......

I used an old necklace of mine to hang the picture.

I had a lot of fun making this for LESSology........a  BIG thankyou to Yvonne, Angie and the rest of the DT for having me on your Blog today.

I look forward to seeing what you create for this months challenge.

Angel

Hellooooooooo,

I have not been around much lately in Blog land.......I'm still painting. Walls are complete but I've started on furniture. I still have some wood pieces but a lot is getting painted white....to shabby it up a little.
 Its looking good!
I will visit you all again soon!

Yesterday I took some time out to create something for LESSology.
The challenge this month is 'Flights of Fantasy'

I have to show you the before pics first..........
My friend Mandy from Scrappy-Go-Lucky gave me this jewellery stand last year, (she bought it from a thrift store) with the idea of seeing how I could transform it. This challenge was the perfect opportunity!

Angel wings and some doilies.

So armed with a glue gun , some lace and a box of doilies this is what I came up with.

Look how pretty it is now!

I removed the jewellery holder part and the skirt, then spray painted it white.

There are only two items that are new on my angel ........the pink doily and the heart charm, every thing else is recycled. The Rhine stone bow is an old brooch that cliped onto a shoe to dress it up.

For the skirt I layered two doilies then gathered some pretty lace over them.

I cut this flower from some lace fabric.

Happy Crafting everyone.....Hope to be back soon.

Another Floral Delight.....

What a rush.......
I needed to make a card for a friends Birthday, I put these pretty flowers on it that I made using the "Forever Young" cartridge. So I decided to try and complete it for the challenge over at LESSology. I quickly added my recycled item .....which is the tule. It is from a mosquito net , which is slowly getting smaller and smaller. It looks so much prettier on a card, don't you think!

I misted the flowers , scrunched them, then added puffy paint to the tips.

The paper is Kaiser Hummingbird collection. This is an easel card which I turned side ways. They come in packs pre cut with envelopes. The doily is my favourite Cheery Lyn die - English Tea. Mandy sells both these items in the

Have a crafty week everyone

thank you 4 visiting

Floral Delight.........

Is the latest challenge over at "LESSology"

How could I resist playing along!

Here is my recycled item........This cute jar was used for 'icing sugar'......I would sprinkle it over sweets I baked.

LOOK how pretty it looks now:)

I sprayed the lid white, then made lots of pretty flowers from buttons and doilies.........enough to fill every hole in the lid.

The heart charm is recycled too.

It now sits in the middle of my dinning table looking, oh so pretty:)

If you have a huge supply of buttons like me......this is a great way to use them up!

Happy Crafting

"Jars of Cuteness"

That is the new challenge at "LESSology"

Here is my jar...........

My up cycled item is an old doily. I used spray adhesive to stick it to the jar.

I really wanted to use an old preserving jar to make this............funny story - we do have one, but you could say its my husbands. His mum sends him home made strawberry jam in it all the way from Canada ......... since we are spending Christmas with them that jar is getting packed in a suit case!
 Any way,
I decided to cut a hole in the lid to give a similar effect........ I had to hit it a few times with a hammer to flatten out the sharp edges, I like how it turned out:) It has a well used look .

Cricut Flower shoppe was used to cut the outer petals of the flower. The centre is a kaiser bloom. Some pretty crinkle ribbon and twine to finish off.
A collection of these jars grouped together would look so pretty!

Tomorrow morning I fly to Western Australia for a few days.....I'm so excited, I have never been to that side of the country before. I will be back to visit your blogs next week.

I appreciate you stopping by and leaving so many wonderful comments.......and thankyou to everyone for your birthday wishes last week.

See You Soon

The Doggy Bag.........

This is challenge #3 at LESSology.

Get creative with the Brown Paper bag!
The only Brown paper bags I had were these lunch bags...........I found this old stamp exchange book at an OP shop. For my recycled item I cut a recipe from it .

After throwing quite a few bags away.......this is what I came up with!

I baked all the cookies, filled the bag and added the recipe to the front. I thought this would make a yummy gift!

The lace is also recycled from some clothing. More Hearts....... that's no surprise!

I cut the white flap from Elegant Edges using the Book feature, added a little stitching, stuck it to the back of the bag with double sided tape. I embossed the bag, then inked it .
I made the pink frill at the bottom with crepe paper.
Who knew that the simple lunch bag could look this pretty!

Thank you so much for another great challenge......they are so much fun.

Pretty Hearts...........

Hi everyone, I'm back to show you the project I made for "Lessology". If you haven't heard its a new challenge blog .......which is all about Up cycling.

The Trinket Box Challenge! :) Don't we love having little boxes holding fun little treasure we have? Decorate an existing box or make one from scratch! Remember to include at least ONE upcycled item on your creation!
I just love HEART anything.............I've had this box stored in a cupboard for along time, this challenge was the perfect opportunity to give it a new look.
Here is the before picture.

Look at how pretty it is now!

I made the flower using the "Flower Shoppe" cartridge.........can you see the petals are Heart shape too??
I 've used Kaiser paper........the background is "Timeless" and for the flower I used their new collection "Bonjour".

The centre of the flower is a very old earing.  I love fairies too, so I added it............and some more pretty Hearts.

Here is a photo to show you how old it is..........

I painted the inside pink.............and hated it. So then I had the idea to paint a crackle medium over it before I changed the colour. I love how it turned out all old looking!

My box will be used to store all my pretty HEART shape trinkets.

This box was one of a set .............I can't wait to cover the rest now!
Hope you like it
Thank you for a great challenge
